2 Months Later…

Here’s what I’ve been up to the past few weeks!

Lark and Frigate Caye

A few weeks ago we took a Catamaran out about 16 miles to two cayes called Lark Caye and Frigate Caye. It took about an hour to get there but it was definitely worth it. We got to snorkel in two different spots, have lunch at Frigate Caye, and relax on the boat.

New House

Recently, we had to move down stairs because there were people moving in upstairs. The bottom is pretty similar to the upstairs except we now have concrete floors and I have a bunk bed in my room. We think it is a little bit cooler down here but there is a lot more mosquitoes. Here’s a few pics…

Sailing to Guatamala –

Last weekend, we were the crew on a short trip to Livingston, Guatemala. We took a 7 hour boat ride on a wooden sailboat but there wasn’t any wind to sail, so we motored down the coast of Belize very slowly. It was just me, my mom, Ed the captain and his dog Kin-kin. It was so hot half way there, that we had to cut the engine and stop for a quick swim off the boat. I had a hard time climbing the ladder back on the boat. It was pretty long but we got there eventually.

Livingston, Guatemala –

After 7 hours we docked the boat in the Carrabean village of Livingston. It was such a vibrant contrast to the open sea. There was loud music playing in the streets and mostly tuk tuks and motorcycles whizzing by us. We found our hostel, took a swim and checked out the town. Livingston is an interesting place, everyone speaks Spanish, but they also speak Mayan or Garifuna. I think Max would really love it here because of the photos he could take.

New Kitty –

When we got back to Belize we had a message from the Humane Society about fostering a baby kitten. So as soon as we got home and showered we went to meet the little flea bag! At first she didn’t look so healthy, so we bathed her and fed her and gave her lots of love. She’s a little funny looking but we are getting attached and she is thriving.

Here’s a few pics of some random animals I’ve met along the way…
